Safari Itinerary

Day 1

Morning: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Your pre-arranged transfer will take you directly to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2-3 hour drive).

Late Morning/Early Afternoon: Check into your first accommodation within or near the northern section of Tarangire National Park. This could be a lodge or a tented camp offering comfortable amenities and a sense of immersion in the bush.

Afternoon: Embark on your first thrilling game drive, focusing on the northern part of the park. This area is known for its iconic baobab trees dotting the landscape and good concentrations of elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and various antelope species. Keep an eye out for predators like lions and leopards that are often drawn to the water sources.

Evening: Enjoy dinner at your lodge/camp, sharing stories of your first day's sightings under the African sky.

Day 2

Morning: After an early breakfast, enjoy a game drive as you transfer from your northern accommodation to a lodge or camp located in the southern section of Tarangire National Park (if you've opted for two different accommodations). This drive itself will be a game viewing opportunity, allowing you to observe the changing landscapes and wildlife.

Full Day: Spend the day exploring the southern reaches of Tarangire. This area often feels more remote and offers a different perspective of the park. You might encounter larger herds of elephants, greater kudu (with their impressive spiral horns), and fringe-eared oryx, which are less common in the north. The vegetation can also vary, with more acacia woodlands and open grasslands. Your experienced guide will navigate the best routes for wildlife encounters.

Evening: Relax and enjoy dinner at your southern Tarangire accommodation, reflecting on the diverse wildlife and scenery you've witnessed.

Day 3

Morning: Enjoy a final early morning game drive in the area surrounding your accommodation. This is a great time to potentially spot predators as they are often active before the heat of the day.

Late Morning: Return to your lodge/camp for breakfast. Depending on your departure schedule and interests, you have a few options:

  • Extended Game Drive: Enjoy a longer morning game drive, maximizing your time in Tarangire and perhaps revisiting areas where you had exciting sightings.
  • Maasai Boma Visit (Optional): If you're interested in a cultural experience, your guide can arrange a visit to a nearby authentic Maasai Boma (village). This offers a chance to learn about the traditions, way of life, and social structures of the Maasai people. Please note that this usually involves an additional fee that directly benefits the community.

Afternoon: After your chosen activity, begin your transfer back to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your departure. The drive from the southern parts of Tarangire can take around 3-4 hours, so ensure your flight schedule allows ample time for the journey.
