Safari Itinerary

Day 1

Morning: Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). You will be met by your safari guide and transferred to Arusha Airport (ARK) for a domestic flight to an airstrip in the Western Corridor of the Serengeti (e.g., Grumeti Airstrip, Kirawira Airstrip, or others depending on camp location and availability).

Late Morning/Early Afternoon: Enjoy a scenic flight over the Tanzanian landscape to the Serengeti. Upon arrival at the airstrip, you will be met by a guide from your chosen camp/lodge.

Afternoon: After settling into your accommodation, embark on your first game drive in the Western Corridor. This region is characterized by rolling plains, riverine forests along the Grumeti River, and the possibility of encountering large herds of the Great Migration, as well as resident wildlife like lions, elephants, giraffes, and various antelope.

Evening: Enjoy dinner and relax at your camp/lodge, listening to the sounds of the African bush

Day 2

Full Day: Spend the entire day exploring the Western Corridor. Your activities will be tailored to the location of the Great Migration.

  • Migration Tracking: Your experienced guide will use their knowledge and communication with other drivers to locate the large herds. You might witness thousands of wildebeest and zebras grazing, moving, or even attempting river crossings (depending on the river levels and the herd's movement).
  • Resident Wildlife Encounters: The Western Corridor is also home to resident predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas, as well as other plains game.
  • Grumeti River Exploration: If your camp is near the Grumeti River, you might have the opportunity for guided walks (if permitted and safe), offering a different perspective of the ecosystem. Keep an eye out for large crocodiles!

Evening: Return to your camp/lodge for dinner and share your day's adventures.

Day 3

Morning: Enjoy a final morning game drive in the Western Corridor, perhaps trying to catch any migration activity you missed.

Late Morning: After breakfast, you will either take a scenic game drive transfer or another short domestic flight to the Central Serengeti (Seronera area). This area is known for its high concentration of resident wildlife year-round.

Afternoon: Check into your camp/lodge in the Central Serengeti and embark on an afternoon game drive. This area offers excellent opportunities to see the "Big Five," cheetahs, and a variety of other wildlife in the classic Serengeti plains.

Evening: Relax at your camp/lodge and enjoy the sunset over the vast Serengeti.

Days 4

Full Day: Dedicate this day to exploring the Central Serengeti.

  • Morning Game Drive: Head out early for a chance to witness predators like lions and leopards during their active hours. Your guide will be skilled at spotting wildlife and understanding animal behavior.
  • Afternoon Game Drive: After a midday rest at your lodge, continue your exploration. You might visit the Seronera River Valley, known for its diverse wildlife.
  • Optional Activities: Depending on your camp and interests, you might have the option for a hot air balloon safari at dawn (additional cost, pre-booking essential) for a breathtaking aerial view of the Serengeti.

Evening: Enjoy a delicious dinner and perhaps some storytelling around a campfire at your camp/lodge.

Days 5

Morning: Enjoy a final early morning game drive in the Serengeti, soaking in the last moments of your safari.

Late Morning: Return to your camp/lodge for breakfast. Depending on your onward travel arrangements, you will be transferred to a nearby airstrip for a domestic flight back to Arusha Airport (ARK).

Afternoon: Upon arrival in Arusha, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your international departure, or to your accommodation in Arusha if you are extending your stay.
