The information below can help with planning. The packages are meant to give you inspiration, can be what we build upon, or we can start your itinerary from scratch! If visiting Tanzania is part of a larger trip planned throughout Africa, we recommend at least 3 days (3-4 nights) and as many as…well, as many days as you would like!

Safari Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive at your accommodation near Lake Manyara. Settle in and meet your guide.

Afternoon: Head to a nearby location offering ziplining adventures. Several options exist in the vicinity, providing stunning views of the landscape, potentially even glimpses of Lake Manyara in the distance. Enjoy the thrill of soaring through the air!

Evening: Enjoy dinner at your lodge or a local restaurant near the lake, perhaps trying some fresh fish from Lake Manyara.

Day 2

Morning: Embark on a cycling tour of Mto wa Mbu, a vibrant and culturally diverse town situated near the entrance of Lake Manyara National Park. Cycle through banana plantations, rice paddies, and local homesteads. This offers a fantastic opportunity to interact with locals and learn about their daily lives.

Lunch: Enjoy a traditional Tanzanian lunch in Mto wa Mbu, perhaps sampling local delicacies like makande (corn and beans) or grilled meats.

Afternoon: Depending on your interests and time, you could visit a local artisan workshop or market in Mto wa Mbu, known for its wood carvings and Tinga Tinga paintings.

Evening: Dine at a local restaurant in Mto wa Mbu with your guide, who can help you navigate the menu and perhaps share stories about the town.

Day 3

Morning: Embark on a guided hike to one of the beautiful waterfalls located in the escarpment surrounding Lake Manyara. Your guide will know the best and safest trails, leading you through lush vegetation to cascading waters. Enjoy the refreshing spray and the scenic beauty of the area.

Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the natural surroundings near the waterfalls.

Afternoon: Depending on the location of your hike, you might have time for a short game drive within Lake Manyara National Park, focusing on the diverse birdlife the park is famous for, as well as elephants, hippos, and other plains game.

Evening: Relax at your accommodation and enjoy dinner.

Days 4

Morning: Drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. As you ascend the crater rim, be prepared for breathtaking panoramic views of the vast caldera below.

Late Morning/Early Afternoon: Visit an authentic Maasai Boma (village) in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This provides a unique cultural experience where you can learn about the traditions, customs, and way of life of the Maasai people. Participate in their songs and dances, and perhaps even learn some basic Maasai phrases.

Lunch: Enjoy a traditional meal at the Maasai Boma or a packed lunch in the conservation area.

Afternoon: Enjoy a scenic drive within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, keeping an eye out for wildlife grazing on the plains.

Evening: Stay at a lodge on the crater rim or nearby, enjoying the stunning views as the sun sets.

Days 5

Morning: Embark on a day trip to Tarangire National Park, known for its large herds of elephants, iconic baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. Enjoy a game drive through the park, spotting giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and various predators.

Lunch: Enjoy a picnic lunch within Tarangire National Park.

Late Afternoon: On your way back, depending on the day and location, your guide can take you to a local market in a nearby town (perhaps in Karatu or back towards Arusha). This is a great opportunity to experience the local hustle and bustle, see fresh produce, and maybe pick up some souvenirs.

Evening: Enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant with your guide, reminiscing about your adventures.
